Walk through the Algarve inland, departing in the center of Parises to São Brás de Alportel. The itinerary is a connection to the Algarviana Route between Cachopo and Barranco do Velho.
This 11.4 miles course follows some of the water lines in this area. It is a route with some difficulty taking about 5 hours.
We started the route in the morning, on a not too hot day, in the center of Parises. Then, we went down a path until we found a small well and washing place, recently recovered. After this narrower path, the route begins to be made through wider paths, covering the hills and valleys of the mountain. In some parts it is possible to observe the wavy relief of the Algarve mountain range, spotted with cork oaks and some strawberry trees. We could see a lot more vegetation, but the whole Algarve inland suffers every year from some fires that chenge all the vegetation.

Along the way, we also find some small settlements once inhabited by people from the mountains.
After a few miles the route crosses again and accompanies the small streams, but because the time of year that we made the route, they are all dry.

What is the Algarviana Route
Algarviana Route is a pedestrian route of about 186miles that starts in Alcoutim, small town on the banks of the Guadiana River, on the border with Spain, and ends at Cabo de São Vicente in Sagres, passing through the Algarve hills and mountains such as the “Serra do Caldeirão” or Monchique. It is located, mostly, on dirt roads, with great natural values, passing through dozens of small villages. It is divided into 14 sections with different degrees of difficulty.

When to take the walk
Both Algarviana Route and its associated routes always have a high degree of difficulty. It is always necessary to start the courses early so that you do not stay overnight on the courses. They always pass through sparsely populated areas, through valleys without a cellular network and are always many miles to the next small town. They should not be carried out on very hot days or during winter in bad weather. This specific trail accompanies many water lines so it will be more beautiful to do it throughout the spring.
What to take
Water and liquids. Always pay attention to the distance and time to do it. It is advisable to bring comfortable shoes and clothes, a hat, sunscreen, front light or flashlight, a cell phone with a charged battery and a great desire to walk. I also recommend the thermal blanket for a more serious situation that may eventually happen.
